Protests in Korea, 2016

Over 15,000 union workers from across South Korea gathered in Seoul on the 66th anniversary of the Korean War on June 25, 2016, to battle unfair labor practices, the lack of progress on recovering the sunken MV Sewol and the shortcomings of the Park Geun-Hye presidency. Later, a whistleblower revealed widespread corruption in the Blue House.

The Constitutional Court of Korea impeached Park on March 10, 2017. The Supreme Prosecutors’ Office convicted Park of 13 different crimes including bribes of up to 59.2 billion won ($52 million) and jailed Park on March 31, 2017.
